Daphne Wright

Daphne Wright has a solo exhibition at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford in June 2025. Much of Wright’s existing body of work is steeped in a deep understanding of the iconography and history of Western art, as represented in the Ashmolean’s extensive collection.

This book establishes Wright's fascination with the collections of the Ashmolean Museum and the history of seeing they present. Central to the exhibition is Sons and Couch, a life-size sculptural artwork cast in jesmonite of the artist's sons, who have featured in their mother's moving and personal work since an early age. This new piece is currently a work in progress. Also on display is Fridge Still Life (2021), which has not been on public display previously, alongside other works by Wright and objects from the Ashmolean's own collection.
