Catalyst 2026: Fragment of the Foundations for a Babel Tower | Planting Fields Foundation, New York USA

17 October–1 September 2027

Catalyst 2026: Fragment of the Foundations for a Babel Towerby Fiona Tan.

Inspired by the myth of the Tower of Babel and the tradition of the garden folly, Tan has imagined the remnant foundations of a tower within the landscape of Planting Fields – a structure that appears both in the process of being created and, at the same time, in ruins.

We invite visitors to wander its pathways and contemplate themes of communication and the human desire to build shared understanding, and how those efforts can be both ambitious and fallible.

Planting Fields, on the East Lawn, just across from the Main House. On view until September 2027.
