A Women’s Circle is Polly Apfelbaum’s first solo exhibition in Detroit. It includes multiple ceramic floor installations and a first for Apfelbaum: five large-scale wall paintings based on drawings the artist made in the 1980s. Through her colourful 'clay paintings’such as Hilma Heads and the eponymous A Women’s Circle, Apfelbaum highlights women in the creative field and acknowledges craft’s importance in contemporary and modern art.
Wasserman Projects 2026 Fall Exhibitions feature solo presentations from Polly Apfelbaum, Ferren Gipson, and Gyan Shrosbree. Celebrating women’s tenacity and contributions to contemporary art, this season features three artists working across disciplines with craft and colour at the forefront.
