Artists First: Contemporary Perspectives on Portraiture

Małgorzata Mirga-Tas is amongst the eight artists selected as part of the National Portrait Gallery's Artists First: Contemporary Perspectives on Portraiture, a new programme of contemporary commissioning made possible through a partnership with the CHANEL Culture Fund.
The eight artists have created new works in a variety of media that reclaim untold narratives for display alongside works from the National Portrait Gallery's historic collection. Mirga-Tas has created five large-scale textile works for display in the Gallery's History Makers Now room, made with second-hand clothing and fabrics to offer a vibrant representation of Romani figures.
