Nominated for the kinokino Audience award, Corinna Belz's film about Thomas Schütte will be screened as part of the 38th DOK.fest, Munich.
"Artist Thomas Schütte talks about his monumental work: the larger-than-life bronze of a mermad. The creative process and documentation are very structured – and yet there is room for coincidence. For example, when the out-of-control machine mills a pattern that is directly integrated into the concept. In the workshop you can find out why wax is a "nasty" material, how scales are converted using a lighter of how computer simulation supports the creative process. The ongoing design discourse, in which numerous employees are involved, is very important – because" Thomas Schütte is indeed not alone." – Anja Klauck
