MARLENE DUMAS: MD - Light

26 March 1999 – 20 May 1999

Frith Street Gallery is pleased to announce a solo show of painter Marlene Dumas.

The exhibition is timed to coincide with the publication of Phaidon Press’ new monograph on Dumas, part of their ongoing Contemporary Artists Series.

In an exhibition specially conceived for Frith Street Gallery, Dumas will continue her investigation into the portrayal of the human figure and face in the late 20th century. It will reflect themes which have long been central to her work – violence and tenderness, race and sexuality, guilt and innocence – and how they influence the portrayal of the figure.
